Pandanus Park – War Veterans Retreat is situated on the eastern bank of the Normanby River near Rinyirru (Lakefield) National Park (CPYAL) and has approximately 11 kilometers of freshwater river frontage with most camps situated along the river bank. Family members and limited guests are welcome but must be accompanied by an eligible veteran at all times. The retreat is operated under a Deed of Licence from the
Traditional Owners, the Kalpowar Land Trust.
There is no fee for camping in the bush camping area, with no facilities provided.
Access is permitted to Pandanus Park from ANZAC Day through to Remembrance Day each year though most Veterans arrive in the weeks leading up to Long Tan Day (18th August) when a Service of Remembrance to honour the fallen is held at the Pandanus Park War Memorial.

Hi,
A 1RAR Vietnam Vet and would like t o visit Pandanus Park in August. Any idea when it might reopen?
Hi Guys, I moved to Cairns 18 months ago (Smithfield), will be going up to Pandanus Park probably shortly after its open, haven’t been up before . Do I need a permit.
